scan-stomachThis is a scan of the female pelvis area.

Ovarian cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women and usually occurs in the over 65s. Symptoms can be difficult to recognise and may include pelvic pain, increased abdominal girth and bloating.

Endometrial cancer (cancer of the lining of the womb) affects 6000 women a year and is most likely to happen to women who have been through the menopause. A common symptom is bleeding after you have been though the menopause.

Our examination is a detailed look at the uterus, endometrium and ovaries. Other complaints such as fibroids and cysts can be diagnosed from this scan.

This scan is normally performed both externally and internally (transvaginally). Consent will be obtained for this.

If you are concerned that you have any symptoms of ovarian or endometrial cancer then you must seek advice from your GP.
