This is a detailed scan of the thyroid gland and looks at the nature of any neck lumps.

You will be asked to lie on a couch with your head tilted slightly backwards. A water based gel will be put onto your skin and a hand held probe called a transducer will be moved over the skin. There is no preparation for this scan however please wear clothes that gives easy access to the neck.

This scan normally takes 20 minutes.
