What is Ultrasound?

scan-KidneyUltrasound imaging, also called ultrasound scanning or sonography, involves producing images of the body using high frequency sound waves.

Ultrasound examinations do not use ionizing radiation (as used in x-rays), and do not cause any known harm.

Ultrasound images are captured in real-time and can therefore show the structure and movement of the body's internal organs.

Ultrasound Examination

You will be asked to lie on a couch.

A water based gel is placed on to the skin.

A small hand held probe called a transducer is then moved over the skin.

Excell Ultrasound provides screening services for that extra peace of mind.

Types of scan offered are:

  • Aortic Aneurysm Screening
  • Female Pelvis Screening
  • Testicular Screening

The cost of the scan includes a disc containing your ultrasound images and a copy of the report.

All patients are required to complete a medical questionnaire before their scan.

If any abnormality is detected a copy of the report will be sent to your General Practitioner and you will be advised to make an appointment with them to discuss the results.

Payment by cash or cheque is required at the time of the scan.

Please contact us in confidence to discuss your requirements.
